Man shot at shebeen in Hekpoort

Police are appealing to the community to come forward with any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect/s following a shooting at a shebeen.

One man was wounded when a shooting took place at a shebeen in Hekpoort over the weekend. Hekpoort police are investigating a case of attempted murder.

Hekpoort Police spokesperson Sergeant Gloria Maswanganye said the incident happened during the early hours of Saturday morning, April 29 at Palarama.

She said the police were made aware of the shooting and rushed to the scene. When they arrived they found a man lying on his back bleeding.

“He was wounded in the lower body.”

Maswanganye added that preliminary investigations revealed the man was at a shebeen in the area. He was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.

“Police are appealing to the community to come forward with any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect/s.”

The police are also asking the community to not confront the suspect but rather call the police on 014 576 9100 the Crime stop number on 08600 10111 or use the My SAPS App.
