Man found in possession of illegal firearm arrested
A 40-year-old man was arrested in Magaliesburg after he was found to have an illegal revolver.
A 40-year-old man appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court on charges of being in possession of an unlicensed revolver with a filed-off serial number.
Magaliesburg Police spokesperson Sergeant Kgomotso Mogwere said the man appeared in court recently after his arrest late last month.
Mogwere explained that at about 06:30 on Sunday, April 23 the West Rand Essential Infrastructure Units’ Constable Masingi and Constable Mwale were patrolling along Maropeng Road in Magaliesburg.
“The members spotted a silver Toyota Yaris and stopped the vehicle for a routine search. Four male occupants were found inside and searched. One male suspect was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm. The suspect was subsequently arrested and later detained at the Magaliesburg station.”
