Security team busts hijacking plot, recovers stolen dealership cars
A routine interception quickly escalated into a breakthrough, revealing a hijacking and leading to the recovery of three stolen vehicles.
During a callout at about 00:56 on December 11, a local security company intercepted a Mercedes-Benz driven by a known vehicle-theft suspect.
According to Guardmax Protection Services director Jan Venter, during questioning, a passenger disclosed information about a hijacking and the theft of three vehicles belonging to a local car dealership in the Lanseria area.

“Our team was directed to an abandoned truck near an informal settlement where the vehicles had been offloaded, and back-up was called. Further questioning revealed that the stolen vehicles had been moved to Soweto,” Venter said.

A follow-up operation was launched, leading to the successful recovery of all three vehicles. Venter added that the suspected kingpin was arrested and handed over to the police, and the dealership’s management was notified of the recovery.

“A swift, co-ordinated operation involving our team, a tracking company, and the police led to a breakthrough – one suspect detained, a hijacking uncovered, and three stolen vehicles recovered through rapid, intelligence-driven action,” Venter concluded.
