Crash near shopping centre follows armed robbery getaway

Motorists are urged to remain vigilant after suspects fled the scene of an alleged armed robbery near a shopping centre in Krugersdorp North.

Motorists and residents are urged to exercise caution at the intersection of Viljoen Street/ Voortrekker Road and Paardekraal Drive, near a shopping centre in Krugersdorp North, following a reported armed robbery on Sunday, December 14.

According to BCI Security communications officer Paul Catlett, a Toyota Corolla without registration plates was involved in a crash after four suspects allegedly exited the vehicle and fled the scene in a silver VW Polo heading towards the N14.

Police and Mogale City Public Safety officials are currently on the scene.

No arrests or injuries have been confirmed at this stage.

The Krugersdorp News is also on the scene and approached police for comment; however, officers declined to speak to the media. An update will be provided once official police comment is received.
