Burglary tip-off leads to stolen vehicle recovery after pursuit

Help24 Secure, along with the police, gave chase after a car was stolen during a break-in.

Police and private security recovered a stolen vehicle on Wednesday, June 3, after a Kenmare resident reported a burglary at a neighbouring property on the community communication group, prompting a pursuit.

According to Help24 Secure CEO Sheldon Grobler, upon arrival, the resident confirmed that the burglars were travelling in an older-model purple hatchback. A lookout was immediately initiated, and all available guards did a search of the area.

The suspected vehicle was subsequently located, and a pursuit was initiated. The burglars abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. We looked for the culprits; however, we could not find them,” Grobler said.

The vehicle was recovered from the scene on Frederick Cooper Road towards Chamdor by the police, and preliminary investigations revealed that false registration plates had been fitted to the vehicle. The police processed the vehicle for fingerprints and further investigations.
