West Rand Flying Squad recovers R1.5m in stolen vehicles
A string of police operations across Krugersdorp, Rant-en-Dal, Kagiso, and Burgershoop led to multiple vehicle recoveries and key drug arrests within six days.
The Flying Squad recorded numerous successes during operations conducted between August 21 and 26.
According to West Rand Flying Squad spokesperson Karen du Plessis, officers recovered several vehicles and arrested suspects for drug possession.
Police received information about an abandoned vehicle in Krugersdorp West at about noon on August 21. She explained that the new Toyota Hilux, valued at about R820 000, had previously been hijacked.
She said officers recovered another stolen Toyota Hilux, worth about R320 000, which had been left abandoned in Rant-en-Dal at about 20:00 on August 23.
Du Plessis said that officers recovered a stolen Ford Everest worth about R400 000 in Kagiso on August 25 after it was left abandoned.
Separate drug arrests
Officers made two separate arrests of suspects in possession of drugs at about 22:20 on August 26. One of these arrests occurred in Burgershoop, where police received information that led to the arrest of a man in possession of nine cocaine rocks, cocaine, and a gram of Crystal Meth, valued at R1 842.
“The last arrest was in Krugersdorp West, where police received information which led to the arrest of a man in possession of 54 grams Crystal Meth, all worth around R16 254,” she concluded.
