Two foreign nationals face charges of possessing suspected stolen property after West Rand police intercepted a massive consignment of copper cable on September 22.

Police received information about two vehicles allegedly transporting copper cable from the North West towards Krugersdorp, according to Gauteng provincial police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello.

West Rand Crime Intelligence, the West Rand Flying Squad, the West Rand District Crime Prevention Unit, and private security companies acted on the information.

Officers intercepted the two vehicles on the R24 towards Krugersdorp, discovering a large quantity of copper cable loaded in the back of the bakkies, with an estimated value of R800 000.

Police arrested the two Pakistani nationals and opened a case as investigations continue.
