Residents urged to save water during hot weather

With the current heatwave affecting the country at large, MCLM advises residents to use water sparingly.

With the latest heatwave causing quite a stir and escalated load-shedding stages, conserving water becomes critical for the city and its bulk water suppliers.

With that in mind, Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) would like to encourage residents to save water as the warm weather continues.

According to MCLM’s head of communications Adrian Amod, Mogale City has reservoirs with storage capacity to prevent water interruptions, those reservoirs rely on continuous flow to remain full and be prepared for any eventualities. With increased load-shedding stages affecting water pumping and increased water demand due to the heat, the municipality’s water resources and infrastructure go under strain.

“Water Services acknowledge that residents need to stay cool and hydrated during this heatwave however we urge residents and businesses to limit their water consumption to necessary use to reduce the pressure on our water supply network,” Amod said.
