Vandalism incident leaves parts of Mogale City without electricity

Cable theft incident in Batavia has certain residential areas without electricity.

Mogale City’s Energy Services apologises to residents for the delayed communication concerning the vandalism of municipal infrastructure leaving residents without power.

The municipality has been hit with another vandalism and cable theft incident at the Batavia Substation which affected the power supply to Quellerie Park, Wildtuin Park, Oatlands, Agavia and Heritage Manor.

Mogale City confirmed in a statement that reparation material was ordered yesterday however, there has been a delay in delivery, and as a result, there is no estimated time of restoration that can be provided at this stage.

Energy Services is greatly concerned with the frequency of vandalism and theft in the city’s infrastructure and continues to appeal to members of the public to curb vandalism by reporting any suspicious activities to the police.

‘We apologise profusely to affected residents and businesses for this inconvenience and ask for their understanding and patience”, the MCLM’s statement said.
