All eyes on you if you dump

The municipality has warned against illegal dumping and encourages residents to report it. Here's how …

Illegal dumping has been a persistent issue in Krugersdorp, prompting the Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) to issue yet another warning.

The municipality urges residents to cease this unlawful activity and encourages them to report incidents of illegal dumping to the appropriate authorities.

“The Waste Management Division wants to encourage residents to report illegal dumping in town,” said MCLM communications officer Adrian Amod.

Residents can contact the hotline number on 011 951 2179 or 2145, send a WhatsApp on 073 634 2343, or email klenamanje@mogalecity.gov.za.

Amod added the first step to lodge a complaint is to the municipality. Secondly, residents should provide the precise address of the dumping. Thirdly, residents should submit evidence such as images and the dumper vehicle registration.

“The division added anonymous complaints are welcomed and encouraged and residents’ identities will be kept confidential throughout the process. The recent sale of vacant municipal land also assists with vacant sites used for dumping or criminal activity.”
