Lucky Sele elected new Mogale City Executive Mayor
Mogale City elected a new mayor following the resignation of Danny Thupane.
Mogale City Local Municipality held a special council meeting today, October 25, to elect a new mayor for Mogale City.
This is following the resignation of former executive mayor Danny Thupane on October 16, shortly before a motion of no confidence was set to take place.
In today’s meeting, three candidates were nominated: the current Speaker of Mogale City, councillor Lucky Sele, representing the ANC; councillor Tjaart Steenkamp, representing VF Plus; and Alderman Tyrone Gray, representing the DA.

Seventy-three members of the mayoral council cast their votes, in secret, which resulted in the following:
* Lucky Sele: 43 votes
* Tyrone Gray: 25 votes
* Tjaart Steenkamp: 5 votes

Sele would emerge as the victor following and will be sworn in as the new Executive Mayor of Mogale City Local Municipality.
