Water restoration update: Mogale City thanks community for support amid recovery efforts
MCLM provides an update on the Eikenhof maintenance and areas that will have water soonest.
Mogale City Local Municipality’s (MCLM) water services wishes to inform residents, businesses and other affected parties that the Eikenhof maintenance work was successfully completed last night (December 16).
MCLM communications officer Adrian Amod said that while Rand Water has started pumping water into the system, it will take time for the currently empty reservoirs to refill and recover to levels that allow consistent water availability through our reticulation system.
“Parts of Munsieville, Kagiso Ext 9 and 14 have already started receiving water and more low-lying areas are also expected to recover soon. Areas directly supplied by Rand Water, including Mindalore, Krugersdorp West, Boltonia, Oatlands, Delporton and Tarlton – are also expected to recover soon. High-lying areas such as Noordheuwel, Kenmare, Rant-en-Dal, Dan Pienaarville, Munsieville proper, Kagiso proper, Rietvallei and Swaneville, which rely on water towers, will take even longer to recover as the supply needs to be pumped up once reservoirs reach sufficient levels,” Amod informed the community.
“We urge residents that have and will soon have running water to use it sparingly to allow our reservoirs to rise to the required levels thus ensuring that sufficient water is available in our reservoirs to supply every household and business in the city. Mogale City extends its heartfelt gratitude to local farmers, Rainbow Chicken, mosques, and property owners who selflessly offered borehole water to assist the municipality and residents in need. We also thank our ward councillors for their collaboration with water services and for their efforts in helping manage this challenging situation.
This truly has been a case of ‘all hands on deck,” he concluded.
