Electricity crisis sparks protest in Kagiso

Residents of Leratong Village are protesting after nearly a month without electricity.

Frustrated residents of Leratong Village in Kagiso began protesting over electricity from 06:00 this morning, August 6.

According to resident Palesa Shabalala, they have been without power for almost a month.

“Nobody is doing anything about it. There is no hope for power coming back soon,” she said.

Although Randfontein Road was blocked earlier, it was cleared shortly after the police’s arrival.
