Mogale residents invited to apply for indigent support
Mogale City will host an indigent awareness campaign in Kagiso to assist residents with applications for essential service relief.
Mogale City Local Municipality’s (MCLM) Indigent Management Services will host an awareness campaign on Friday, August 22, at the Rietvallei Pink Hall in Kagiso.
According to MCLM communications officer Refilwe Mahlangu, the campaign aims to educate residents of Wards 3 and 34 about the benefits of the programme, ensuring that all qualifying residents have the opportunity to apply and join.
Other municipal divisions, including Water Services and Credit Control, will also be present to provide information and assistance.
Residents interested in applying are advised to bring the following documents:
• Proof of income, the latest three months’ bank statements, or an affidavit if unemployed
• Copies of identity documents for the applicant, spouse, and dependents
• Proof of marital status
• The latest municipal account and prepaid electricity meter number
• A SASSA confirmation letter if receiving social grants
• Eligible applicants must be Mogale City residents responsible for paying municipal services, with a combined gross income equal to or less than twice the government pension grant plus two child-support grants; this includes child-headed families, unemployed individuals, and employed persons whose monthly income falls below the threshold
“To qualify, applicants must reside on the property for which indigent status is being applied, must be the owner, tenant, occupier or a vulnerable person receiving municipal services, and may only benefit from one property. Households that jointly own more than one property and apply for indigent support must declare all additional properties to the municipality,” Mahlangu said.
This programme offers much-needed relief to families unable to afford essential services such as water, electricity, refuse removal, sanitation and property rates.
