Smart meter upgrades to cause temporary outages

From August 28 to 30, Vodacom contractors will replace old prepaid electricity meters with smart meters in Luipaardsvlei. Here’s what residents should know.

Residents in parts of Luipaardsvlei can expect planned power interruptions from August 28 to August 30.

According to Refilwe Mahlangu, the communications officer for the Mogale City Local Municipality, the electricity will be off daily between 08:00 and 16:00.

“Mogale City’s appointed contractor, Vodacom, will be conducting audits and replacing prepaid electricity meters with smart prepaid meters,” she said.

The following streets will be affected:

• Barclay
• Bullion
• Catharina
• Francis
• Heading
• Kobie Krige
• Luipaard
• Paardekraal Drive
• Park
• Pritchard
• Richmond
• Sivewright
• Vlei
• York

Mahlangu added: “Residents in these streets are requested to ensure that someone is at home to allow technicians access to their properties. If access cannot be gained, technicians will leave a note with a contact number for you to arrange an appointment at a time that is convenient for you. We thank you for your co-operation.”
