R563 to Hekpoort to close for 11 days for sinkhole tests
Motorists travelling on this road will need to find alternative routes, and clear detours will be provided.
The R563, which links Krugersdorp and Hekpoort, will be closed temporarily for 11 days.
Councillor Gwen Britz confirmed that this will take place from October 10 to 21 and said test pits will be drilled around the sinkhole to further investigate the cavitation point of the sinkhole.
Findings will form part of a geotechnical report.
“These tests need to be done before repairs to the sinkhole can commence. While the road will be closed, detours will be clearly marked for motorists,” she concluded.
