Power outage hits Wildtuinpark and surrounds

Councillor says the cause of the outage affecting several areas is unknown, with no visible cable damage and no estimated restoration time.

Several neighbourhoods, including Wildtuinpark, Oatlands, Agavia and Heritage Manor, were left without electricity on Tuesday morning as technicians worked to determine the cause of a sudden power outage.

Councillor Amy Steyn visited the substation at about 08:24 on November 18 and said the source of the outage remains unclear.

“There are no visible signs of cable damage from what I can see. I am awaiting feedback from the electrical department regarding the ongoing power outage,” she said.

She added that there is currently no estimated time for power restoration.
