Kagiso takes a stand in 16 Days anti-violence campaign

Kagiso residents gathered in a powerful Children’s Walk to support the 16 Days of Activism campaign against GBVF.

The Kagiso community came together in solidarity as the Gauteng Department of Social Development, the Gauteng Department of Community Safety and Rand West City Local Municipality led a Children’s Walk as part of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign.

According to Gauteng Social Development MEC Faith Mazibuko, the campaign is a United Nations initiative observed annually from November 25 (International Day of No Violence Against Women) to December 10 (International Human Rights Day).

Faith Mazimbuko has her say.

This year’s theme, ‘Letsema: Men, Women, Boys and Girls working together to end Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF)’, aligns with the Positive Masculinity Dialogue to be held alongside the G20 Ministerial Meeting and supports global outcomes linked to GBVF response.

“Marking its 27th year, the campaign continues to raise awareness about the severe impact of GBVF on women, children, and the broader social fabric. It also highlights the systemic and societal root causes of GBVF and drives action at community, national, and international levels to end all forms of gendered violence,” said Mazibuko.
