Electricity, water and service costs rise in Mogale

While property rates remain unchanged, residents can expect to pay more for electricity, water and other municipal services under the new tariffs.

The new municipal tariffs came into effect for residents of Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM).

According to MCLM assistant manager for media and PR Refilwe Mahlangu, the approved tariff increases took effect on July 1.

Property rates remain unchanged with a 0% increase. However, electricity tariffs have increased by 9.01%, water by 11%, and sanitation and other municipal services by 3.7%.

“While we continue to cushion residents with a 0% increase in property rates, these tariff increases are commensurate with cost-of-living increases. They are also necessary to ensure we continue delivering quality services to residents,” Mahlangu concluded.
