Mogale City Municipality dismisses Kagiso water-shedding reports

Residents are urged to rely only on official channels as false social media claims cause unnecessary panic.

False information is currently circulating on social media about alleged water-shedding scheduled to take place in Kagiso today, September 1.

The Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) has verified the notice as fake news.

Refilwe Mahlangu, assistant manager for media and PR at MCLM, urged residents to rely only on official municipal channels for verified water updates and service notifications.

“Please do not share unverified information, which can cause unwanted confusion and anxiety in our communities,” she warned.

At the time of publication, Mahlangu had not yet seen the official reservoir levels but reassured the community that no water-shedding would take place.
