New CEO wishes to modernise hospital

The 48-year-old Dr Rodney Pheto started at the hospital on August 1 after serving as Acting CEO of the Carletonville Hospital.

The Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital has welcomed a new CEO, Dr Rodney Pheto to their team. He has big plans for the hospital.

The 48-year-old Pheto started at the hospital on August 1 after serving as Acting CEO of the Carletonville Hospital.

He hit the ground running on August 11 when he engaged the staff on an intervention plan for priority services. The mass meeting included staff from support services like finance and supply chain management, security services, infrastructure and corporate services.

If we strengthen them then there will be improvement in clinical care, resulting in positive patient care outcomes,” Pheto said.

During the meeting senior managers from the hospital gave an update on their respective areas, including the quality coordinator.

Pheto said he was blessed to become part of the Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital team, and added that he would work with the team to ensure quality healthcare for their patients.

He started his career through the Nelson Mandela Fidel Castro Scholarship Programme in the Republic of Cuba and specialises in primary healthcare and district healthcare services.

His plans include modernising the hospital, for instance transforming it into a paperless hospital, and expanding healthcare services like establishing specialised services. His motto is that a happy and healthy employee is a productive employee.
