Adopted cops introduced at 35 Krugersdorp schools

The bond between schools and police are stronger than ever with 37 schools in Krugersdorp having "adopted" a cop.

Bonds between schools and the police have strengthened at the start of the new school year after the Krugersdorp Police paid a total of 37 schools a visit from 08:30 until 14:00 on January 11.

“The objective of the visit was to ensure safety at schools during the school’s reopening and introduce the Adopt-a-Cop program,” said Krugersdorp Police spokesperson Captain Raymond Sebonyane.

He added the Krugersdorp Police Station Commander Brigadier Happy Xaba was joined by the Visible Policing Commander Colonel Senne Mogotlane, the Support Head Colonel Rebecca Masango, Social Crime Prevention Coordinators and ward councillors.

Captain Sebonyane added during the visits, all “adopted” cops were introduced to their schools accordingly.

“Principals and management appreciated our presence and asked us to patrol in and around the schools to minimise the crime risk.”
