More than 340 people, 110 vehicles searched in weekend roadblock

During this past weekend, a total of 119 vehicles were stopped and 343 people were searched during a roadblock held by Magalies and Hekpoort police.

The Magaliesburg and Hekpoort police held another roadblock this past weekend where 343 people and 119 vehicles were searched.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Kgomotso Mogwere explained that the roadblock was held from 14:00 to 22:00 on February 3. The Magaliesburg and Hekpoort police were joined by Volsec Security and Hekpoort farm patrollers for the roadblock on the corner of the R24 and R560 Hekpoort Road.

The objective of the roadblock was to maintain police visibility, search for the transportation of drugs, tracing of stolen and or hijacked motor vehicles, unlicensed firearms, and intercept the transportation of prohibited goods.”

The team also spoke to the motorists about crimes like hijacking and vehicle theft that could affect them.

“One hundred and fourty pamphlets with relevant crime safety tips were distributed to the motorists.”
