Featherbrooke Estate resident celebrates 90th birthday
Marjorie Anne Lund celebrated her 90th birthday during the week.
They say that one gets wiser with age and oh boy does this 90-year-old have a lot of wisdom!

Marjorie Anne Lund from Featherbrooke Estate recently celebrated her 90th birthday on Wednesday, February 22. She was born in 1933 in Kimberly and is of Scottish heritage. Her mother was part of the Steward McDougall clan.
Her daughter Chantal Roodt said that while her mother was living in London, Prince Charles (Now King Charles) held the door open for her during a shopping trip to Harrods, much to the alarm of his protection unit and last year when she turned 89 her birthday fell on 22/2/22, which doesn’t happen very often.
In her younger days, Marjorie loved horse riding, embroidery, cooking and travelling. She has visited 13 countries (some more than once) – like England, France, Italy, Spain, America, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Singapore, Lesotho, Swaziland and Mozambique.
Part of the 20 years that my mother worked for Nedbank was spent in the international dealing room.”
Her daughter added that her mother is a memorable person and that people always remember meeting her, she leaves a lasting impression.
“It’s hard to condense 90 years into a few events, I was there for all of it – The beginning and end of WW II, everything from Elvis and the Beetles to disco, 1994 in South Africa, and my son turning 2 on the penultimate voyage of the Queen Mary from New York to South Hampton before the Queen Mary was retired from service,” Marjorie said.
About turning 90 she said she feels no different to when she was 50.
“You must never worry about the years they come regardless.”
She has two beautiful children, four grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
