Armed robbers storm Dan Pienaarville shop, takes R15K worth of goods
Residents are urged to be on alert ahead of the Easter period as Mapogo A Mathamaga Security in Krugersdorp revealed two armed robberies and several break-ins from March 19 to March 25.
Mapogo A Mathamaga Security in Krugersdorp warned homeowners and businesses to be extra vigilant after a string of armed robberies and break-ins were reported across town for the period from March 19 to March 25.

In the first armed robbery which occurred in Kershaw Street, Dan Pienaarville on Tuesday, March 21, the security company’s operations manager Danie Vermeulen said two suspects entered a shop at about 10:25 where one of them pointed a gun at the employees in the premise.
“They then took one cellphone and cartons of cigarettes worth approximately R15 000 and fled the scene. No arrests have since been made,” Vermeulen said.
He added two days later, on Thursday, March 23, another armed robbery was reported at a shop this time on Carol Road, Silverfields.

“Five suspects, two armed with firearms entered the shop at about 09:28. The suspects then ordered the staff to lay down and went on to load 55 batteries in the back of a white Hyundai H100 LDV. They then fled the scene. No arrests were made as yet,” said Vermeulen.

• Shoplifting in Cecil Knight Street in Rant-en-Dal at about 12:57 on March 19:
One suspect entered the shop and proceeded to steal one solar panel and one light. An employee of the shop noticed and arrested the suspect. The suspect was then handed over to Krugersdorp Police.
• Theft in Jorrisen Street, Monument at about 06:29:
A suspect gained access by jumping over the perimeter fence. The suspect was noticed on CCTV monitoring busy stealing CCTV cameras from the building. Mapogo armed reaction units were dispatched and the suspect was arrested.
• Theft in Luipaard Street, Wentworth Park at about 19:13 on March 22:
Suspects gained entry by cutting the perimeter electric fence and bending the palisades. The suspects then went on to steal copper cables, pipes, and taps. No arrests were made.
• Break-in and theft in Diepering Street, Delporton at about 03:03 on March 23:
Suspects gained entry by breaking a perimeter gate lock and the front safety gate and door and went on to steal one microwave and a small fridge. No arrests were made.
• Break-in and theft in Albertina Sisulu Road, Lewisham:
Suspects gained entry into the premises by breaking through the roof and ceiling. The suspects managed to cut open the store safe and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash, various cell phones, and clothing. No arrests were made.
• Housebreaking and theft in Pilanesberg Street, Monument at about 16:40 on March 23:
Suspects gained entry through an electric fence and forced open a sliding door. The suspects then attempted to force open the kitchen door but did not manage to do so. The suspects fled with various small items. No arrests were made.
• Attempted break-in in Syferbult Road in Tarlton at about 00:26 on March 24:
Suspects gained access by cutting the electric fence but fled the scene after a worker on the property pressed the panic button. No arrests were made.
• Theft in Kruger Street, Krugersdorp CBD at about 18:53 on March 25:
Suspect entered the shop and stole the airtime machine. No arrests were made.
