Body found floating in Monument Dam

Krugersdorp Police confirmed the lifeless body of a man was found floating in Monument Dam.

An inquest docket has been opened by the Krugersdorp Police after a body was found floating in the Monument Dam on Friday, March 10.

Krugersdorp Police spokesperson Captain Raymond Sebonyane confirmed the body was that of a man believed to be in his early 40s.

“At about 14:10 that day, the Krugersdorp Police received a complaint of drowning from a resident who was busy fishing at the dam next to Begin Street, Krugersdorp. A body of an unknown man estimated between the ages of 40 to 45 was recovered by the K9 West Rand Search and Rescue team.”

CPF sector 3 patrollers were also on the scene to assist in keeping spectators away while the police rescue team recovered the body.

Captain Sebonyane added police have since been able to track down a family member of the deceased.

“An inquest has been launched and the investigation continues.”
