The Irish Rock Women’s Club test others’ knowledge about animals

The Irish Rock Women's Club holds fundraiser to support furry friends.

A local rescue centre benefitted from a quiz event held by The Irish Rock Women’s Club.

On Sunday, this club of women with a desire to help those around them, put together a quiz about animals to raise funds for Maltese, French Poodle & Yorkie Rescue SA and Friends of Rescued Animals (Fora). They also sold raffle tickets for added fundraising. There were prizes for all who took part in the quiz and for the participants who were dressed the funniest.

According to Megan Adriaanzen, the chairperson for the club, someone donated a cake for them as well as a self-made dog bed that was raffled off and all the women donated a bottle of alcohol to go with a doggie bag and a food hamper.

Megan explained that the club has existed for more than 20 years, and said, “We arrange fundraisers for organisations aimed at helping others. We meet on the last Thursday of every month and currently have 26 to 30 members.”

She further added these are only two of the organisation’s beneficiaries, they also support a school with food and the EPIC Foundation with a golf day and they do a blood drive every 56 days.
