“Mogale City would like to assure residents who reside adjacent to the site that the incident has been receiving urgent attention. A team has been dispatched to the site and has since been working around the clock to extinguish the blaze, however, recent and current windy conditions are negatively impacting their progress.”

They said that the daily operations at the landfill have not been affected and the site remains open. The municipality said they will continue to give updates as more information becomes available.

We apologise to residents who live close to the site for the inconvenience caused and once again reassure them the team is doing everything possible to stamp out the blaze.”
