Mogale Response Services (MRS) arrived on the scene and found two vehicles that collided. It is confirmed that one patient had to be airlifted to the hospital while another was transported by ambulance.

The incident happened at the intersection where the traffic lights have been out of order for several weeks. Residents complained on Facebook saying that might have been the cause and they have been asking for weeks for the lights to be fixed.

MRS’ Facebook page said the crash happened at 08:33 and the scene was clear by 10:29. They explained that these patients had to be stabilised on the scene before they can be transported and that can take a while.

If there is a fatality, services on the scene are required to wait for forensics and pathology and only once these disciplines have finalised their responsibilities, can a scene be cleared, again it could be a few minutes or several hours,” their statement read.

Netcare, GEMS, First Help, the West Rand Fire Department Station 38 and their reservists, EC Security, Mogale Public Safety, and other services were on also on the scene.
