School in Kagiso gets a facelift for Mandela Day
A school in Kagiso was renovated by the Adopt-a-School Foundation and various stakeholders.
Tsakani Primary School in Kagiso spectacularly commemorated Mandela Day when they invited the Adopt-a-School Foundation to celebrate what would have been the great Nelson Mandela’s 105th birthday this year.
The foundation, a partner entity of the Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation, through its Whole School Development (WSD) programme, was on the premise of Tsakani to begin renovating the school as a commemoration for Mandela Day.

Volunteers and members of the foundation were painting and cleaning the school with the hope of improving the school environment for the learners to develop and improve as they are the future of the country.

The event had special guests who addressed the learners. Dr Tshepo Motsepe was appealing to all the learners to take the initiative in making their communities and the country a better place to live for themselves as well as future generations.

“Adopt-a-School Foundation was born from a passion and a desire to be a positive force in changing the future of education in South Africa. From humble beginnings, the foundation has grown exponentially. With hundreds of schools spanning the entire country, we can make a sustainable difference in the lives of hundreds of thousands of learners, their families, and their communities,” Dr Motsepe said.

Among the stakeholders and donors who made the event possible were Black Umbrellas, Merafe Resources, Royal Haskoning DHV, BP, and Phoenix Contact who spent more than 67 minutes of active citizenship.
