Curro Krugersdorp warm the hearts during cold days

Curro Krugersdorp Preschool learners, parents and grandparents recently reached out to worthy organisations for Mandela Day.

As winter grips Krugersdorp and the spirit of Mandela Day fills the air, Curro Krugersdorp Preschool took the initiative to extend a helping hand to their local community.

With the unwavering support of dedicated parents, the preschool embarked on heart-warming projects to make a significant impact on those in need. Recognising the power of unity and compassion, Curro Krugersdorp Preschool carefully selected two projects that hold a special place in the hearts of their community.

The first project ‘Hip to be Square’, rallied parents, grandparents, and other community members to knit or crochet squares, coming together to create beautifully crafted baby blankets. These heart-warming blankets were then generously donated to The Bethany House Trust for their baby centre, which currently cares for 18 precious babies.

“Our commitment to giving back to the community is deeply rooted in the values we instil in our young learners,” said Curro Krugersdorp Preschool phase head Helena Hern-Jansen van Vuuren.

She added, “The project not only showcased the creative talents of our parents but also embodied the love and care we have for those around us.”

Then, in a bid to combat the cold and provide comfort to the less fortunate during the winter season, the preschool also initiated the ‘Warm Heart for the Needy’ project.

This initiative saw the collection of winter clothes and blankets, all of which were donated to The Cradle of Hope, a remarkable non-profit organisation dedicated to community development and upliftment.

“Through these endeavours, the preschool has proven that even the smallest hands can make a significant difference when united with a common purpose. The collective efforts of the preschool, its parents, and the community have resulted in spreading warmth and joy to those in dire need,” marketer for the Krugersdorp Curro group, Amoryn Wright, concluded.
