KHS’ version of Cinderella blows attendees away

KHS learners showed off their drama skills and talent during a school play recently.

Krugersdorp High School (KHS) senior learners blew the crowd away during an exciting school musical that took place from August 1 to August 3.

The play named I Want to Dance tells a very unique take on the Cinderella story, however, with a few twists and turns it left the audience enchanted and laughing due to its unique sense of humour.

Lesego Mojaji and Rebone Kgokong as the evil stepmother.

The play follows a kind-hearted young woman from Pumpkinville who longs to be seen on the world stage as she gets an invite to the prince’s royal ball. However, soon she is taken on a huge adventure as she has to deal with her evil stepmother as she makes some last-minute adjustments which see her not being able to go to the ball and meet her prince charming.

Kwanda Lubobo as the Fairy Godmother.

A story adapted from the Disney fairytale, the audience experienced a sense of nostalgia as all the memories were relived in the classic tale they all adored from their childhood.
The play would see parents and learners attending entertained and taking part in the play by singing and dancing to the music. The musical would feature songs like I’ll be there for you by The Remembrandts, well-known for being the theme song of the classic sitcom Friends. Other songs would include, I Wanna Dance with Somebody by Whitney Houston and Lush Life by Lara Larsson.

Jenique Kiewitz as Dandini.

The production was well put together as the cast blew the audience away with their vocals and enthralled many with their acting skills and choreography – the audience even stood up to get their groove on.
