Investigation underway into discoloured municipal water

Residents are advised not to drink municipal water until investigations and tests are complete.

Mogale City Local Municipality’s Water Services Division is aware of discoloured tap water in some parts of the city.

Areas which are mainly affected are Monument, the CBD and areas in Krugersdorp North.

Residents have complained about discoloured water in some parts of Mogale City.

A technical team is currently investigating the cause behind the discolouration and is working to urgently resolve the problem.

According to specialists from the water division who tracks the quality of drinking water, the brown colour in the water is mostly caused by sediments that accumulate and settle in the reservoirs and supply networks. In the meantime, residents are encouraged to not drink municipal water until investigations are concluded.
