#CaxtonCares about Casual Day this spring
Caxton Joburg West spent Spring Day honouring those with disabilities.

September 1 signified more than just the changing of seasons, it also gave countless South Africans an opportunity to support a worthy cause – Casual Day for people with disabilities.
The Caxton Joburg West Branch dressed in their most colourful spring outfits and many bought Casual Day stickers to support the worthy cause.

Did you know that Casual Day is the primary awareness and fundraising activity of the National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD)? Casual Day is an annual national campaign in South Africa. The public’s R20 contribution for a sticker allows them to express their individual interpretation of the yearly subject through their clothing, demonstrating their support for the full inclusion and equity of people with disabilities.

Recently, a short clip of a girl throwing starfish back into the ocean during low tide resurfaced. In this clip, a jogger runs up to the girl and halts. “What are you doing? You are wasting your time. You won’t be able to make a difference alone,” he commented, to which the girl replied by picking up another starfish and saying ‘it made a difference to that starfish’.

It might feel like you won’t really make an impact as one person doing something selfless but remember that the person, animal or cause you are supporting could make a world of difference. If everyone went out of their way to perform one simple act of kindness, the world would be a better place.
