Fire outbreak affects refuse removal services
Refuse in some residential areas will not be collected for some time.
Mogale City Waste Management Division wishes to apologise to residents and businesses affected by the non-provision of refuse collection services since Friday, September 15.
The provision of services was regrettably interrupted by the Luipaardvlei Landfill Site Fire outbreak and ongoing work which consequently prevented the municipal trucks from accessing the site however Water Management Division is working around the clock to resume normal operations.

According to Mogale City Local Municipality communications director Refilwe Mahlangu, affected areas will be notified of the next service date as soon as access to the landfill site is granted and residents are therefore requested to keep their refuse bins in their yards until then.
“We plead with affected residents to not empty their bins in open fields which will cause illegal dumping that will in turn only harm the environment and also be burdensome for surrounding businesses and residential areas. We apologise to affected residents for this inconvenience and thank them in abundance for their understanding,” Mahlangu said.
