Serenity and adventure at Cowboy Town market

Distinct aromas and the lively sounds of country music were in the air at Cowboy Town's recent Sunday market.

Cowboy Town’s Sunday market is a bustling centre that skillfully blends tradition and innovation.

The market, located in the centre of an old mining neighbourhood en route to Randfontein, provides an experience that appeals to both locals and tourists every Sunday between 08:00 and 15:00.

The Krugersdorp News visited the market this past Sunday, which features a large number of exhibitors as well as a few different eateries and food stalls for culinary enthusiasts to enjoy.

The moment visitors stepped foot into Cowboy Town market, they were greeted by the distinct aromas of smoking braais and the lively sounds of country music in the air as Marco Steyn was singing.

According to Mia Maré, who is the co-owner of Cowboy Town, the market supports local and upcoming artists by giving them a platform to perform live.

“There are a variety of artists who sell their handmade items at our market. These items are unique to the crafter and won’t be easily found elsewhere,” Mia said.

The vendors proudly displayed their products and each was a sign of dedication and passion that they poured into their craftsmanship. Strolling through the stalls, each art piece, perfume, jewellery, and more was eye-capturing.

“We are so appreciative of how this community has come together to support each other,” Mia said, as she proudly shared that some of the stalls that attended their markets managed to grow into small businesses that now occupy permanent shops at Cowboy Town.

As the day drew to a close, it symbolised a fine farewell to the people who left with bags full of gifts and hearts full of memories, leaving many already eager for the next Sunday market.
