Kagiso artist DJ Kay Lash is a rising star

An artist from Kagiso is bringing the energy and rhythm of the West Rand to the forefront. He will be performing at this year's Rand Show.

Mogale City continues to produce some fine talent in the entertainment industry.

Lebogang Khumalo, better known as DJ Kay Lash, hails from Kagiso and is another musician hoping to inspire young up-and-coming artists in the community.

Lebogang embarked on his musical journey in 2012 as a producer. He initially explored hip-hop, then made the change to house music before eventually finding his niche in Amapiano. His master skills with the piano have become a distinctive feature of his music which has propelled him to reach new heights.

“A pivotal moment in my career came with the collaboration with Vista & Lady Du. Specifically the track, Gibel’stimela, allowed me to show my capabilities,” he said.

This year, he will be performing at the Rand Show alongside DJs U & I, Mbatha Jnr, and many other talented artists.

To add, he recently released the extended play (EP) musical recording titled, ASAMBE, featuring original productions.

“The tape showcases nothing but local talent, including collaborations with artists such as ThatoSoul, Smokeys, Hobbs, and BlaQsun,” Lebogang added.

By taking on the big stage and with the release of his EP, DJ Kay Lash hopes to show that the West Rand indeed has talent.

“I believe that featuring at the Rand Show will put Krugersdorp on the map. It not only highlights the talent in our district but it might encourage others with similar desires and passions to pursue their musical dreams.”
