A man who is passionate about cleaning helps to keep the public toilets at the Krugersdorp Taxi Rank clean – without any compensation for it.
Boyce Motswatswa recently shared his story with the Krugersdorp News and says the people he serves consider him their hero.
He told the News he grew up in Kagiso but is currently residing in Munsieville and loves to clean spaces and enjoys doing it. His journey as a cleaner began a few years back after he struggled with the children he was raising and battled with sitting at home every day.
He said that he started cleaning the mobile toilets at the old taxi rank because they were always dirty and no one wanted to clean them. Boyce also mentioned that his sister, who is married to a taxi owner, asked him to come and clean the taxi rank toilets for them. Many people love the way he cleans.
“When the taxi rank officially opened in February 2023, a lot of people called me and asked me to come and clean for them because they love how I do my job and I’ve been here ever since,” he elaborated.
There are other toilet cleaners at the taxi rank but Boyce is the best according to commuters and taxi drivers who use the toilets.
“Boyce does his job with passion, his cleaning is top tier and he is very helpful to us,” said taxi rank frequenter Mhlezehletshwa Mtshali.
Themba Rafapa, who also uses the toilets regularly, said that he loves Boyce’s service because he uses quality cleaning products and toilet tissues which makes them enjoy using the toilets. The toilets have air fresheners, handwash soap, and towels to dry hands after washing.
Boyce also mentioned that he buys cleaning products and toilet supplies out of his own pocket because he loves doing what he does. The taxi rank currently has no water but Boyce goes the extra mile for his people and fetches water from outside the taxi rank, using a bucket and says that he does it out of love and his passion for helping people.
