Tree falls onto moving vehicle on Voortrekker Road: 2 injured

Two people escaped with minor injuries after a tree fell onto their moving vehicle on Voortrekker Road near the Witpoortjie Train Station on April 9.

Mogale City’s Response Services regional commander Gerhard Niewoudt said the two injured people refused medical treatment despite the tree causing severe damage to the vehicle.

Emergency Control South Africa’s Pieter Boshoff added the incident occurred at about 14:30 saying the road was blocked and closed for more than an hour to clear the debris that obstructed the road.

“The tree in the middle of the road [on the island] had fallen over onto a passing vehicle,” Boshoff said.

However, the exact reason why the tree fell over remains unknown at this stage.
