Male baboon on the loose in Monument

A large male baboon is currently wandering around the Monument area.

According to Brandon Murray, a rehabilitator at the Owl Rescue Centre, the baboon is said to have been there for over a week and was recently discovered on Tuesday evening by a resident who lives in the area near the Paardekraal Monument.

“We currently have set up traps and cages in an attempt to rescue and put the animal in a safe facility. The circumstances as to how the animal ended up in the historical site are unknown, however, news on the animal will be updated as soon confirmation is received,” Murray said.

Residents who live near the monument are advised to be careful and vigilant.
