“Major crash” yesterday on N14 was in fact a simulation
Despite rumours circulating around town, the incident on the N14 on October 25 was in fact a staged simulation.
Motorists were furious on Friday afternoon, October 25 when the N14 at the M5 off-ramp under the bridge, was closed due to an ‘incident’, which Mogale Response Services (MRS) confirmed was a simulation.

“Live simulations like the above are set up as training exercises to test all services’ response times. From activation to a scene to testing the skills of services and individuals within these entities and getting a holistic view of how everyone as a unit work, including off-site services such as helicopter medical personnel and hospital personnel and their readiness to sustain trauma patients,” said MRS spokesperson Debbie Victor.
