Noordheuwel home destroyed by fire

West Rand Emergency Services’ Regional Commander Gerhard Nieuwoudt said they received a call reporting a house fire at about 09:30 this morning.

They were informed that the thatch roof of the lapa was ablaze, and the fire quickly spread to the rest of the house. One individual sustained serious injuries.

“Numerous resources were on the scene, including fire trucks, ambulances, police, and volunteers,” Nieuwoudt added.

“Despite challenges such as limited water resources, communication issues, and personal injuries, everything worked together well, and the scene was cleared by 15:20. The cause of the fire is still under investigation,” he concluded.
