Hotel reaches out to the community, one food parcel at a time

A day of celebration for those in need when Decalabash Hotel handed out food parcels.

A hotel and nightclub decided to help out those in need on New Year’s Day.

Adolphus Igbokwe, owner of the hotel, explained they handed out food parcels to the community.

“We see people struggling and they are going through a lot, especially the elderly who cannot provide for themselves. We then decided to reach out to families in need,” said Adolphus.

He added they handed out food parcels to 20 families. The parcels include groceries such as meat, vegetables and rice.

He noted they had previously handed out food parcels in Thembiza, Mohlakeng, Kagiso and Orange Farm but they noticed there was a need right where they were and decided to do something about it.

“It was very successful. The elderly were so happy they were dancing. Just to see the smiles on their faces was worth it,” said Adolphus.

Next, they plan on reaching out to two schools in the community where children are struggling with uniforms and sanitary pads.
