Hearts and hands unite for needy kids on Mandela Day
Mandela Day saw Key West, in partnership with Telkom and Spur, give meals to Cross Connect Community Outreach's House Nehemiah.
Mandela Day saw the community’s generosity blossom, with Key West Shopping Centre reaching out to Cross Connect Community Outreach (CCCO).
The centre’s marketing manager, Sandra Thring, said that in partnership with Spur and Telkom, they gave meals and lunch boxes to the children at House Nehemiah.
“As part of our ongoing commitment to community upliftment and social impact, Key West is proud to support local organisations like House Nehemiah. This initiative forms part of our broader Kindness Drive, aimed at giving back and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those around us, especially children,” she said.
The home’s CEO, Kyle Tolman, said Mandela Day was an opportunity for the community and businesses to give back to local organisations.
“It was a truly humbling and emotional experience. Spending time with the children, hearing their stories, and seeing their resilience firsthand reminded us of the importance of real connections and community care. We believe that meaningful change begins with simple acts of kindness. Through initiatives like this, we’re proud to stand beside organisations like House Nehemiah and help build a better tomorrow,” Sandra concluded.
