WATCH: Fire erupts in Krugersdorp-West home – one injured
A man was seriously injured after a shack caught fire in Krugersdorp-West, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
A 35-year-old man was seriously injured in a shack fire in Krugersdorp-West yesterday afternoon, July 23.
West Rand Emergency Services received the call at 15:57 and quickly responded to the scene.
“On our arrival, we found a three-room shack well alight. The fire was spreading rapidly towards the adjacent house. The community was trying to douse the fire with water buckets, but due to the intense heat, it proved to be unsuccessful. We engaged and brought the fire under control, preventing it from spreading,” said regional commander Gerhard Nieuwoudt.

He added that the man sustained serious injuries due to smoke inhalation. The scene was cleared by 17:00.
Community Policing Forum (CPF) Sector 5 secretary Chantel Lourens confirmed that the injured person was a 35-year-old man.
