Two critically injured in head-on crash on Robert Broom

A head-on collision on Robert Broom Drive on Monday morning left two critically injured, with emergency crews and bystanders rushing to help.

A man and a woman were critically injured in a head-on collision between two light motor vehicles this Monday morning (August 25) along Robert Broom Drive in the Munsieville area.

West Rand Emergency Services regional commander, Gerhard Nieuwoudt, said they received the call about the serious crash at about 07:34.

“A Mercedes-Benz and Mazda collided head-on, entrapping the driver of the Mercedes-Benz. The driver of the Mazda was pulled from the car by bystanders. We also performed a full side removal and dash lift on the Mercedes-Benz,” he said.

Nieuwoudt added that the woman had to be airlifted.

“Several response and emergency services were also on the scene, including reservists and ambulances, who worked hand-in-hand together to treat and assist the seriously injured,” he concluded.
