Cook up a storm for a cause at the Friends of Emergency Services potjie competition

Join the community in celebrating teamwork and local heroes at a lively Kenmare potjie competition raising funds for emergency responders who serve on the frontlines.

The Friends of Emergency Services (FES) invite the community to join their first-ever potjie competition fundraiser on November 22 from 10:00, promising a fun-filled day of teamwork, good food, and local pride – all in support of emergency responders.

The non-profit organisation assists firefighters, paramedics, and rescue teams by providing financial help, equipment, and community awareness.

“FES is here to show care for those who care for others,” said Angie van den Berg, one of the directors. “We believe in cooperation, community spirit, and gratitude towards the people who arrive first when there is an emergency.”

Residents can expect music, emergency vehicle displays, and prizes for categories including Best Potjie, Most Creative Team, and Best Team Spirit. Judging will take place at about 16:00.

Teams can enter for R150 via Quicket. Participants should bring a gazebo, fire setup, metal base, potjie, and ingredients.

For more details, contact Angie on 060 842 7087, Dale Mac Rae on 082 926 1327, or Elsie Wolfaardt on 083 651 2054.
