Krugersdorp mourns beloved resident Maryna Louw (92)

Maryna Louw, a longtime Chancliff resident, passed away at 92, leaving a legacy of community service and independence.

Maryna Adriana Louw (92) passed away on December 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of service to education, social work and her community in Krugersdorp.

Born in Keetmanshoop, Namibia, she earned an honours degree in psychology and social work from the University of Pretoria and devoted her life to teaching and nurturing children, including foster children.

Maryna and her husband Theo raised five children and lived on their Chancliff smallholding for 57 years. She remained active and independent well into her 90s, driving her own vehicle until the age of 90 and enjoying community events.

Maryna is survived by her five children, foster child Marietjie, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Her memorial was held in Hermanus on January 10, 2026.
