The Krugersdorp News welcomes the newest member of its team this week.

Third-year journalism student Nokwanda Swazi Zama Sithole (22) joins the newsroom as an intern for the next six months.

Born in Ladysmith and later raised on the West Rand, Nokwanda grew up in a small town near Kagiso. She attended Thuthuzekani Primary School, where she completed Grade Seven, before moving on to Lodirile Secondary School, matriculating in 2021. After a two-year gap, she enrolled at the Tshwane University of Technology, where she is studying towards a Diploma in Journalism.

Nokwanda says journalism chose her. She is passionate about being a voice for the voiceless and believes patience and dedication are essential in the field. She views journalism as a bridge that connects communities and holds those in power accountable.

Making a positive difference in people’s lives motivates her. She hopes to build a career as a respected journalist who stands up for what is right.
