Residents warned: Scammers pretending to offer municipal jobs

The municipality has urged job seekers to verify all vacancy listings through its official platforms after reports of scams.

With unemployment rising, some individuals are resorting to desperate measures to earn an income, including attempting to scam job seekers.

Mogale City Local Municipality’s assistant manager for media and PR, Refilwe Mahlangu, has warned residents to always verify municipal job listings, stressing that the municipality only communicates through its official channels.

Residents can verify information such as job offers through the following platforms:

• Official WhatsApp line: 083 787 2814
• Email: customerservices@mogalecity.gov.za

“You must always communicate and make payments through trusted, official and verifiable platforms. To avoid being defrauded, we encourage you to verify the authenticity of any person or company claiming to represent the municipality,” she concluded.
